At Reid Wire, we specialise in restoring beautiful, decorative gates and railings for homeowners. From our Glasgow based factory, our skilled craftspeople can repair and restore traditionally designed ornate Cast Iron or Wrought Iron railings, gates etc.
Our team of engineers can repair most driveway gates, garden gates, railings or high-security commercial gates and railings, we’ve got it covered. We carry out this process by hand so the end result will be completely unique to the customer’s requirements.
To assist with the conservation of our most iconic buildings throughout Glasgow and the West of Scotland, we offer a full bespoke specialist service , including restoration of sophisticated hinging and hanging mechanisms.
In some aspects, we may be able to offer new-build replicated systems for clients, from design, manufacture, right through to on-site installation, providing our customers with a range of solutions to enhance and maintain their property.

Reid Wire were extremely proud to have been involved with the restoration of the infamous Victorian spiral staircase located within the Palm House of Glasgow’s Botanical Gardens. This historic piece was given a chance to survive another 100 years.

Our Process
We take great pride in our repair process, which begins with a home visit if necessary to discuss your requirements. Our expert will give you all the help and advice you need to maintain that high quality look. Once you’ve agreed to proceed with the project, our experienced team will commence work on your gates or railings stripping back the corroded & damaged areas, cleaning then restoring to exacting precision.
We thoroughly inspect every weld for defects to ensure the highest quality finish. Once everything meets our exacting standards, your gates or railings are galvanised and/or painted to prevent rust keeping your gates or fencing looking 1st class for many years. Our experienced engineers will also perform a final inspection to ensure everything is perfect before completion of the installation.
Including most of the structural supporting steelwork internally, Reid Wire lovingly repaired the spire and much of the exterior handrails and fencing (in line with B-Listed regulations) to maintain the buildings original character.
